Stats

We found some statistics that kind of freaked us out!

-There are over 300,000 child soldiers throughout the world

-Worldwide conflicts have orphaned 1,000,000 children

-Although UNICEF has stressed that the minimum recruitment age is 18, the militias recruit at 6 or younger.

Find out what you can do to stop children from dropping out of childhood!

Info....?

Do you think this blog gave you any information Mr. Lewis didn't? (Don't worry, you can lie and say you did)

More Problems...

Another problem with having children fight as soldiers is that they would have to walk through fields of mines to prevent the deaths of more valuble warriors. They are easy to manipulate because they're children, and they don't think about the damage they're causing themselves and others. If you think you're man enough to kill another person, does killing little kids contribute to that any? Nope! It must take some desperation to kidnap children to fight.

Some problems with child soldiers

One problem with having kid soldiers is that they don't get to spend time with their families. They can't get an education, and they end up losing their entire childhood. Instead of learning how to milk a cow, they learn how to shoot a gun. Then when they try to re-integrate into their societies, they are rejected for all the violence they have helped to spread. Sometimes they are accepted, but no one truly trusts them.
